Love Your Home, Love Yourself

Here it is again! February 14th, and love is in the air, or is it? You're probably inundated with love messages in the form of self-care and love for our partners, but do you still need some inspiration to get into the spirit? 

How about a fresh take? 

For the love of our local Washington DC residents and clients alike, we share the message of spreading love within your homes. For yourself, for the lovely others you live with, and for the love of the space you occupy together. 

Here are some ideas that might hit just right to inspire you in your home this Valentine's day. 

A space for yourself: Let’s start small. A space just for you, hyper-focused on something that makes you feel perfectly you. Maybe you can dump the junk in your nightstand and refresh it with only items that help you unwind in the evening. Same idea for your bathroom space. Out with what doesn't get used and carefully store, organize, and collect items that help you get ready before bed and in the morning. 

Pro Tip: Throw away all of the products that you never use! They are probably expired anyway! Most products have a 3m or 6m on the back, indicating their shelf life.

Maybe a personalized book nook would feel extra special. Or a customized coffee bar. Do you have an indoor gym that could use some love? 

Create a space where you can walk up and thank your past self for creating a space for your present self.

A space for the people you love: It doesn't have to cost much to create space in your home for someone you love! Have a partner? Help them create a space for themselves as you did. They might want to decide which items are included, but you can do the dirty work by cleaning up and preparing the space. 

Have a pet? Pet stations are charming! A great way to store, organize and spend a moment focusing on the needs of your little buddy. You’ll both love how accessible play time ( and clean-up) can be! 

Do you have kids? Do they have an extra special toy they are into? Maybe you can find a small space for that special thing they love. A little table with legos or arts and crafts. Your tiny humans will feel seen and so excited to put their space to good use.

Space to spend together: This one gives us the feels. Whether you are home in your personal space or share it with others, you can spend a couple of intentional moments creating an environment that builds relationships. 

Build a board game collection, invest in fun kitchenware for hosting, or arrange your furniture with a focus on conversations. Store some comfy blankets and pillows, and you're ready to make memories together. 

Our homes are the backdrops of our lives! We can use them to love ourselves, our households, and our guests. 

We can all use more love in our lives; adding it to our homes is a gift that will continue to impact us and those we love.
